The author quickly presents you the basic stuff around a couple of paragraphs and throws you directly into writing code and Backbone basics. The chapters are very well written, increasing in complexity in nicely digestible parts, starting from basics that are not that basic , like Backbone main components to sockets and game development, through CRUD operations, extending views and authentication.
The only reason why I don't give this book 5 stars, is that use a deprecated library; Expressjs 3. On the good side, this book it's not about Expressjs, and I don't believe for the public intended for this book that could turn to be a stopper.
Bottomline: This is a really good book for everyone that wants to expand its knowledge in Backbone. Note: I received this book from Packt Publishing for reviewing it. I recommend to get some knowledge about node.
Those are not really the easiest modules in node.
